Yet Another Absence

Sorry again for yet another break in the stray stream of posts on this blog but I went to Europe for two weeks! My lovely followers, I promise that everything is going to even out soon but life is just so hectic! I’ll upload my travel journal that I wrote while abroad for you all to read!! I’ll post soon!

Captain Hotness: The Sexy Soldier

I went to see Captain America: the Winter Soldier on Sunday. Holy crap the feels! So the movie starts out with hilarity and we get to meet the Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie. The brotp is strong in those two, but not as strong as Natasha and Steve. I love the Black Widow and her friendship with Captain Rodgers shows a different side to her. Scarlett Johansson does an amazing job with her character arc and I can’t wait for Avengers 2.

The whole movie is a series of “I totally didn’t see that coming.” I spent an entire week staying away from the internet to avoid spoilers and I’m so glad I did! I was genuinely surprised and for an avid moviegoer who often figures out the plot twists in the first five seconds, that is an accomplishment. I won’t give any spoilers, but I cried. A lot.

That’s all really. I can’t give too much away so I have to keep this short, but I hope you all go and see it because I have no complaints and the movie really was fantastic.

Is it just me or do Stan Lee’s cameos keep getting better and better?

Goings On

I know I’ve been out of commission for a while, but I’ll try my best to track down any geek news you guys might have missed when I was out.

Okay, so the premiere of Divergent started a brand new teen based franchise that is bound to make millions and I am personally in LOVE with the books, as well as the movie. There are three books in the series: Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant. I’ve read through the first two books and am craving the third. The writing is addicting and Veronica Roth does an amazing job of painting a dystopian society that is both believable and interesting. Tris, the main character, is a character we can imagine ourselves in place of. She may be extraordinary, but she is also VERY human. She has faults and bad points like the rest of us. Shailene Woodley, who plays Tris in the movies, captures the essence of the character perfectly, along with the rest of her fellow cast members. In fact, I believe the movies did an excellent job of pleasing first time viewers and long time fans of the novels because they followed so closely to the writings. Also, if you look closely, you’ll see the author (Veronica Roth) make a cameo appearance in one of the scenes.

Personally, I identify most with the dauntless and the erudite. I fell in love with the thirst for knowledge from erudite and the freedom from dauntless. The entire faction system enchanted me from the beginning and I can’t wait to finish the third book!

Captain America: the Winter Soldier also made it’s debut in theaters on the fourth of April and though I haven’t gotten to see it yet, I CAN’T WAIT!! If anyone on tumblr spoils it, I will exact my revenge and hope their mother finds their blog!

NBC’s Hannibal is in it’s second season. I don’t watch the show but from what I’ve gathered on the internet, the show is Will Graham’s love of dogs, Hannibal the Cannibal rhymes, the police force are morons, Stag antlers, cooking human flesh, and Hannibal loves Will like a big gay baby. At least that’s what I got. Also the fannibals scare me a fair bit though not as much as the Supernatural fandom does.

My boys have been busy lately with Benedict being everywhere and filling my dashboard with lovely pictures, Martin Freeman in a new TV show called Fargo on FX, and Tom Hiddleston in Muppets: Most Wanted as an escape artist with a mustache. Phew, they do so much and still manage to look beautiful doing it! *sighs*

the Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug came out on DVD FINALLY! I cannot wait to purchase it and spend about two and a half hours completely blown away by the wonderful cinematography and adventure that is middle earth.

In personal news, I started reading the first book in the Game of Thrones series by George R. R. Martin. I’m only on page 51 and three people died in the first 21 pages. I’m scared!!

Right, so I think that’s it for now! Have a lovely day and revel in the geekery. Live long and prosper.

My Absence

I’m so sorry I haven’t written anything in a while lovely followers but I’ve been busier than Scotty trying to keep the U. S. S. Enterprise running! I will be posting more soon, I swear!
Hugs and kisses,

Sherlock Series 3… What a Whirlwind

(Sorry about the lateness of this post, but I haven’t had internet access in or ever an life has been hectic. Anyway, enjoy!)
The long awaited and much talked about series three of the hit BBC TV show Sherlock has finally arrived and ended, leaving us with another dazzling hiatus. The three movie length episodes have premiered already in the UK and luckily for me, I was able to sream them over the internet via a best friend of mine, so I saw the episodes before they even had achance in the USA.

I’m not gong to spoil it for anyone, but holy satan they are insane! It’s a roller coaster ride of angst, overwhelming happiness, shock, and one-sided johnlock that is so obvious it’s almost transparent.

I spent pretty much the entire time screaming at my laptop and wandering why the hell what was happening was actually happening. Sherlock was already my favorite character. He has charisma, intelligence (obviously), personality, unimaginable beauty, and wit. Now that I’ve seen the episodes, I can confim that Sherlock will always be my favorite character. After the fall, he is emotionally distressed and vulnerable (as vulnerable as Sherlock can be). Mycroft is slowly inching his way into the second spot, because I have absolutely loved his character arc that Mark Gatiss (actor and co-creator). Mycroft shows a lot more of his personality in the recent three episodes rather thasn the first six.

The johnlock in each and every episode, despite Mary’s prescence, is tangible and unfortunately one-sided. Sherlock is so clearly in love with John and the fact that he has realized this and now knows it’s too late is extremely painful for those of us watching. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Mary because of my ship, but I just wish Sherlock could be happy with the only person he will probably ever love. His emotions are all over the place and the way Benedict Cumberbatch is able to show that Sherlock has regressed emotionally after being alone for two years trying to dismantle the network is amazing.

Tumblr went absolutely nuts an my dash was flooded with hundreds of thousands of gifsets, fic recs, fanarts, and johnlock theories in just a half hour! I love this fandom so much it’s ridiculous.

Well another series has gone and passed. I have heard rumors that season four is premiering this Christmas so it will be fun surviving yet another hiatus with my fellow Sherlockians!

We Love the Old Stuff!

Monty Python kicks ass. Watched since I was four years old and I just can’t ever get enough!

Anderson My BBY

So we all thought that Christmas Eve would be a calm time where we could mentally prepare ourselves for the doctor’s regeneration on Christmas day right? WRONG! The Sherlock series 3 minisode Many Happy Returns has reared its hurtful head and the entire Sherlock fandom has been reduced to shriveling messes underneath shock blankets.

First we have Anderson who, according to everyone only a few weeks ago, was a complete and unadulterated sniveling moron. He lowered everyone’s IQ just by opening his mouth and we could all agree that Anderson was to blame for something stupid. So how is it that Anderson is the only one that figures out that Sherlock isn’t dead and even tracking his movements???  I mean before Anderson could barely do anything other than improperly label things and now he’s watching Sherlock’s movements and figuring the mystery out! Lestrade, John, all of them are convinced Sherlock is dead; truly and properly dead. We even find out that Anderson lost his job over his obsession with finding Sherlock Holmes. New found appreciation for Anderson all around!

Next we have Lestrade visiting John, pre-mustache it seems. Lestrade brings over  a box of old things that belonged to Sherlock, including a birthday video Sherlock had made for John. Of course it’s the uncut version so we get to see Sherlock get nervous. He says that only lies have detail (Reichenbach fall anyone?) Then He tries to figure out what to do. John replies to the video, “I’ll tell you what you can do, you can stop being dead.” Sherlock, on the video, says “Okay,” right after. John’s face tears me up inside after that little incident. It clearly betrays all the emotions he’s been battling with for two years. He says he’ll be with John very soon and the doorbell rings. John pauses the video, which plays itself again and Sherlock winks. It ends with Lestrade staring at a newspaper that says the game is back on.

The symbols and hints in this small 7 minutes of footage is astronomical and for long term fans (such as myself) are easy to discover. Because of this  phenomenal TV show, we have been able to develop our own powers of deduction.

A blog post has followed the mini episode and it seems that John may have truly just let go and given up on Sherlock, which obviously CANNOT happen. It breaks our hearts and no matter what anyone says, John and Sherlock did love each other at one time. I think they both still do. Not that Johnlock bias’s my opinion but I think that at one time, there could have been a strong nonplatonic relationship. I know Sherlock still loves John that way, and probably always will.

In conclusion, Lestrade’s headdesk, Anderson’s creepy giggle, and Sherlock’s wink have all been the utter death of me. The game is back on!

It’s so obviously him!
